Kate and Anna McGarrigle

On Tuesday I achieved one of my life long ambitions -
to see Kate and Anna McGarrigle perform live. I have been following their music since they started in the 70's. For those who don't know. they are French Canadian sisters who write and sing some of the most memorable songs you will ever hear. Many of their songs mean so much to me and bring back so many memories. Anyway their gig at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester did not disapoint, the only downside was the set was too short. In fact their last song (apart from the encore) finished so abruptly and they went off-stage leaving people stunned. The audience of course weren't going to let them escape that easily and after they came back on Kate admitted thay forgot to say that it was their last song. For an encore they did Kate's "Talk to me of Mendocino" probably my own personal favourite of all their songs.

Taking stock of the McGarrigles music I have I realise I only have 1 album on CD. So tommorrow I am going to get out all my vinyls of theirs and copy them onto CD. I use Audio Cleaning Lab software for this, it makes a very good job but of course it has to be done in real time as there is no way of speeding this up.
